Vanessa Odvar, after attending Youngstown Master’s Commission for three years, became the Children’s Pastor of Victory@New Wilmington in August of 2008. Since then, she has gained the additional role of Nursery and Preschool Director. Vanessa has a strong love for children and seeing them reach higher and go farther in their relationships with God, and in spreading the Gospel to their friends and family. By partnering with parents, and teaching strong foundational truths, Vanessa’s dream is to see the children not only come to a saving knowledge of Christ, but live powerful and miraculous, Spirit-filled lives.

What We Believe PDF Print E-mail

We Believe
At Victory Christian Center, we practice a very personal faith, because we believe in a personal God who loves and cares about you. He knows what you need and He wants to be involved in your life. We believe God brings those who accept His Son Jesus into His spiritual family and gives them the most fulfilling life. God's Holy Spirit actually comes to live in them and helps them to live for Him.

Personal Relationships
This very personal relationship with God makes possible the most meaningful worship and causes us to care about others in a deeper way. Victory Christian Center is a church that cares about you personally. In other words, you are a major reason for all we do. We are serious when we say we want to serve you and those you care about. Our worship services and programs reflect this philosophy, which is the basic mission of our church: to love God and love people. We are committed to providing opportunities for people to experience a genuine encounter with God and to develop authentic relationships with one another.

The Bible is Our Foundation
At Victory Christian Center, we recognize the Bible as God's Word, given and preserved for all generations. We believe it is totally accurate, and is the authoritative standard by which to measure beliefs and conduct. That's why preaching and teaching of the Bible is central to every worship service and program of our church.

Personal, Uplifting Worship
Variety is what you'll find when you visit one of our services. You can expect a personal, uplifting worship experience. Our services are geared for participation. We typically worship as we live, with enthusiasm. Music is a major feature of our worship, before, during and even after the service itself. Each individual expression of worship--whether excited and spontaneous expressions of love and adoration to God, or quiet times of waiting and savoring the sacred atmosphere--will blend without disruption in the flow of collective worship under the leadership of our pastoral staff.

Spiritual Gifts in Operation
A unique aspect of Assemblies of God worship is the operation of spiritual gifts. The planned service order may be suspended as different individuals speak or share as prompted by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12-14). One may speak out in an unknown tongue, a Spirit-guided language other than that of the congregation. Another individual, or perhaps the same one, will then give the interpretation. On occasion, the Spirit may prompt someone to speak out, to prophesy, in the language of the congregation. The gift of prophecy, the gift of tongues, and the gift of interpretation, and other spiritual gifts bring the church immediate challenge and confirm Bible truths.
